Alicia Joyce Pryor

Alicia “Joyce” Pryor was born on December 8, 1958 in Macon, Georgia to Mildred and Jerome Pryor. She, her parents and three siblings (Michael, Kenneth, Michelle) moved to New York in 1961. Joyce was a phenomenal student. She graduated Andrew Jackson high school in Queens, NY early at the age of 17.

Growing up, she would frequently visited her grandfather Oscar Anderson in Jacksonville, FL, who was the founder and head Pastor of Faust Temple Church. During her visits, she fell in love with the city and decided to move Jacksonville in 1979. There she launched a long career in the Insurance and Healthcare industries.

Joyce married Nathaniel Mcclendon Jr. in 1980. She gave birth to her first son, Nathaniel McClendon III later that year. After an amicable divorce, Joyce met and fell in love with Carlton Hamilton. She gave birth to her second son, Carleone Hamilton in 1983.

Joyce had a full life. She traveled the world with her friends. Her favorite club was Studio 54 and her favorite place to visit was Puerto Rico. She also loved spending time with her family and friends. Later in her life, Joyce decided to dedicate her time assisting family members and close friends with their health and business affairs.

Joyce passed away on the evening of February 11, 2019. She leaves behind her two sons, Nathaniel McClendon III and Carleone Hamilton; niece and nephews T’mekio Pryor, Sheanqua Pryor and Michael Pryor II, who she loved as if they were her own children; grandchildren, Jah-Niya McCrimager, Ayanna McClendon, Anyar Hamilton, Raelyn Hamilton, Kiarra Davis, Keshawn Davis, Keondre Davis and Kayla Davis; sisters Michelle Pryor and Susan Pryor; brothers Michael Pryor and Kenneth Pryor; and a host of nieces and nephews.

In closing, although we are saddened by her leaving us so soon and we will miss her terribly, she wants you all to know “Love you still.”
