Altamae Richardson was born on December 26, 1935 to the late Remizer Murphy and Robert Benjamin Richardson. Her early years were spent in Orlando, Florida and later her family relocated to Jacksonville, Florida.
She was a graduate of the New Stanton High School Class of 1955. Her work history was spent at Blue Cross Blue Shield, The Florida Star and she later retired from K-Mart as the Deli Manager. After health issues caused her to retire, she never stopped working at home. She was a wonderful wife, mother and homemaker. In her spare time she enjoyed baking cakes, reading novels, watching game shows and cooking shows. She was a long time member of the Las Amigas Social Club where she served as Secretary.
Mrs. Pinkney was a devoted member of Greater Mount Vernon Missionary Baptist Church. She was a member of Usher Board #2, Sunday School Class #9, The Hospitality Ministry and The Missionary Society. She was also one of the original members of The Educational Ministry. She loved to travel with the church and could always be found in the first seat on the bus across from the driver.
Her precious memories will forever be remembered by her husband of 46 years-James. Daughter-Terri A. Smith; Step-Children-Sheila Pinkney, Clarence (Theresa) Pinkney, Harriette Gardner and Rose Simmons. Grandchildren-Tony E. (Jalisa) Smith, II, Tracie Smith-Spooner, William (LaShayna) Pinkney, II, Terrell (Mosi) Pinkney, Carmen Nickens, Bryant Nickens, Timothy Pinkney, Ryan Pinkney, Shikarah Pinkney, Clarence Pinkney, Terrance Pinkney, Tessaye Pinkney, Jason Gardner, Darnesha Gardner, Eric Simmons and Rhonda Simmons. Mother-in-law- Mrs. Theda Pinkney; Goddaughters Donna L. Bryant and Marla (Shawn) Bradford. God sister- Robbin Whitehead; Several Great- Grandchildren, Adopted Sisters-Fannie Green, Willie Mae Pittman, Jackie Grant, Susan Miller and Gail Burritt. Special Friends- Barbara J. Burch and Addie Nelson. A host of sister and brother in laws, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
