Arva Ruth Butler

January 30, 1947 ~ May 6, 2022 (age 75)

Obituary

The earthly life of Arva Ruth Bostick began on January 30, 1947, in Jacksonville, Florida to the late George Bostick, Sr. and Ada Bostick. From this union, Arva was the second of four children.

She was educated in the Duval County School System and graduated from Stanton Vocational High School, Class of 1965. She went on to attend Lincoln Business College where she honed her secretarial skills.

In June 1967, she married Nolan Wesley Butler (deceased) and from this union Danetra was born, their only child.

She grew up in a Christian home and was raised in the Baptist Church. When she married, she was baptized and became a member of the Westside Church of Christ, under the leadership of the late Walter Cox, Jr. At the time of her death, she was a member of the Amelia Island Church of Christ, under the leadership of Minister Percy Johnson.

Arva worked in and around Jacksonville most her life. After moving to Fernandina Beach, Florida, she worked as an Executive Assistant at the Ritz-Carlton, Amelia Island for many years. After retiring from the corporate world, she decided to pursue her desire to be an entrepreneur and became a Virtual Assistant. The name of her company was Bostler, Inc. She was semi-retired when she passed.

Arva departed this life on May 6, 2022. She was preceded in death by her older brother, George Bostick, Jr.

She leaves to cherish her memory a loving and devoted family: daughter and son-in-law, Danetra and Lawrence Hill, Jacksonville, FL; brother, James D. Bostick, Waldorf, MD; sisters, Mary Bostick-Goodson (Arnold), Jonesboro, GA, Vanessa Bostick, NYC; grandchildren, Jermal Butler (Shawna), Darius Butler, and Shaunetra Andrews, all of Jacksonville, FL; great-grandchildren, Jernee and Makayla Butler; sisters-in-laws; Patrica Bostick, Jean Bostick, Elizabeth Butler, Ruth Butler, and Mary Fishburne; a host of nephews, nieces, and cousins.
