Barbara Blutcher Obituary

We the family of Barbara Blutcher have found comfort in II Timothy 4:7-8

“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. From now on there is reserved for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord the righteous Judge, will give me on the day, and not only to me but also to also to all who have longer for his appearing.”

Barbara Ann (Belfield) Blutcher was born on June 23, 1958, in Portsmouth, Virginia to the late David Lee Hicks and Annie D. Smith. She was the fourth child of six siblings. As a little girl, she was known as a quiet force.  Although she had a sweet and caring nature- she would not hesitate to directly tell you what was on her mind. Barbara was a proud member of The Stanton Blue Devils Class of 1978. After graduation, she served as treasurer of the alumni association, coordinating activities such as reunions, cookouts, and Christmas parties.

Affectionately known in her community as the “The Honey Dripper Lady" a title she proudly wore for over 30 years.  She accepted Christ under the leadership of Pastor Cotton. She loved the Lord and was a devoted member of Truth and Love Ministries for many years. She retired as a paratransit driver for the City of Jacksonville after 10 years of service.

Her greatest passion was being a mother to Regina and LaNorris. Due to the untimely passing of her sister Carolyn, she became a second mother to Shemeka. She loved and cherished her children with all her heart. However, the apples of her eye and the sunshine of her life were her grandchildren Maliah, Aiden, and Ashton who affectionately called her Abuela.

She enjoyed fishing, traveling, and cruising. One of her proudest moments was watching her beloved Son becoming a member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc.  in 2010 and graduating from Florida A&M University in 2012. She and her husband were avid fisherman often saying, "If me and Gene could do this every day, we would." In 2022, she boarded her first international flight to Cosa Rica with her daughter Regina. Embarking on many adventures, including climbing waterfalls, watching volcanoes, and relaxing on the beach while enjoying each other's company. Her most recent cruise was with her niece, Shamika, to explore Cozumel, Mexico, on Mother's Day 2023, a place that she found peace near the calm and tranquil waters. She also explored the ancient Mayan ruins and cultural cuisine. Most of all, she loved living life to its fullest- joking and having fun.

On May 29, 2025, surrounded by loving family and friends, she gained her wings and entered the eternal realm to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She was welcomed in heaven with open arms by her parents David Hicks and Annie Smith. Her beloved Sisters Carolyn and Margaret. As well as her loving grandparents.

In Barbara’s passing her memory will be cherished by, her spouse, Eugene Blutcher; loving children Regina Byrd and LaNorris Blutcher. Her pride and joy Maliah, Aiden, and Ashton. Brothers Edward, Dwight, and Dennis. And a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.

Barbara’s love, laughter, and kindhearted spirit will be greatly missed.
