Bruce Benjamin Owens “Bill” was born May 1, 1945 to Clyde Martin Owens and Hettie Bell Owens in Jacksonville, Florida.
Bill graduated from Baldwin High School in 1963. He was on the Student Council and Track team. After graduation in 1963, he was drafted in the US Army where he fulfilled his service of 2 years and received an honorable discharge.
Bill was employed with Southern Bell and retired in 1998 as a Supervisor. After retiring with Southern Bell, he went to work for Annette Bus Lines as a Manager and fully retired in 2010.
His pass time was always spending time with his family, hunting and fishing.
Bill was always called “Billy” when growing up as a child. He was always into mischief and always getting hurt. When he was approximately 5 years old, he was climbing on a cattle gate (after being told not to) and the gate fell on top of him. He broke his left leg near his hip bone. When he was 7 years old, he was playing ball and the ball went into a well pump. As he was retrieving the ball, the pump cut off the tip of his left ring finger.
Bill was preceded in death by his sister, Lula Bell Lundin; brother, Clyde Martin Owens.
Bill is survived by his two sons, Bruce Bennett Owens and Joel Benjamin Owens; Daughter-in-laws, Amy and Stefanie; Siblings Doris Smith 93 years young and Diane Blouir 77 years young; 4 grandchildren, Grace Owens, Faith Owens, Joel Owens and Jayce Owens.
