Christine Robinson Obituary

The seed falls into the ground and sprouts. It grows and its green leaves spread out. The flower and its petals come to full bloom in its beauty for all to see and admire. We all share in its fragrance for a season. Although it soon fades and dies, its beauty remains fresh in our mind forever.

So it is with the life of our loved one, Christine McDonald Robinson went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 21, 2023. She went from life to life!!! Christine’s fragrant life began April 11, 1949 in Rockinghan, North Carolina with parents Mary Elizabeth McDonald Jones and Hayward Ingram. Chris, as she is affectionately called, shared a petal of remembrance with her classmates in the Rockingham Public School System. She graduated from Leak Street High School in 1967. Chris attended Richmond Technical Institute and received her certificate in secretarial sciences. She accepted Christ at an early age. As a longtime member of Piney Grove AMZ Church, Chris served as a Sunday school teacher and on the usher board. She later moved to Newark, New Jersey with her family. Chris provided twenty-three years of employment services at Macy’s (formerly known as Bamberger’s) in the sales department until Macy’s closed its Newark, NJ location. Christine would share her “flower petals” with all those she met and came to know.

Chris met and married the late Alfonso Robinson Jr. on August 11, 1990. She then joined the New Hope Missionary Baptist Church. Here, she served as a Sunday school teacher (ages 2 to 5 years old), secretary for the Women’s Department, president of the Greeters Ministry and member of the Missionary Ministry. In May 2019, Christine moved to Jacksonville, Florida. Chris touched many lives during her 74 years on this earth. She was one of the nicest person you could meet. Chris was always trying to be helpful in any and all situations. For a hobby, Chris enjoyed reading. Trinity Broadcasting Network (TBN) and the Game Show Network were her favorite channels to watch. Chris’s husband (Alfonso Jr.), parents (Mary McDonald & Hayward Ingram), bonus dad (Larry Goines), brothers (Delwin McDonald and Darryl Goines) and bonus son Alfonso Robinson, III Esq. preceded her in death.

The beauty of Chris’s life shall remain fresh in the minds of her loving family members and friends. Those who cherish the memory of Chris include: faithful bonus daughter; Dr. Kethia Dawkins (Sgt. Timothy Dawkins); grandchildren: Tyreke aka Ian Stith, Anthony Forzani and Genesis Rose Dawkins; and 1 great-grandson: Zayden Stith; loving brothers Michael Goines and Brian Goines of Irvington, New Jersey; brother-in-law: Bernard Robinson Sr. (Sandra Gourdine-Robinson); sister-in-laws: Linda J. Rose and Gloria J. Robinson of Jersey City, NJ; aunt: Mrs. Alice Cole of Philadelphia, PA; devoted lifelong sister-friend: Mrs. Clara Beasley; goddaughters: Dr. Whitney Rose Toler and Serita Broady; dedicated caregiver Sherri Mason and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and sorrowing friends.
