Cynthia Kellum, affectionately known as “Cookie”, was a devoted wife, loving sister, cherished aunt, and the steadfast matriarch of her family, went home to be with her Lord on January 13, 2026, in Jacksonville, Florida. She was born to the late Rev. Eddie and Bishop Lillian Felton on January 18, 1957. Also preceding her in death were siblings Christine Felton, Dennis Felton, Eddie Felton, Anthony Jones-Felton, Ronnie Felton, and Robin Felton.
Cookie was educated in the school system of Brooklyn, New York, and graduated from Erasmus Hall High School.
She was united in marriage to her beloved husband, Elbert Kellum, with whom she shared 34 years of companionship, commitment, and mutual devotion.
Cookie was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. She dedicated most of her adult life to a career in banking and accounting, where she was respected for her professionalism, integrity, and expertise. She spent many years serving at Chase Bank in Manhattan and later contributed her skills to Winn-Dixie food stores in Jacksonville Florida.
Lovingly known as the matriarch of her family, Cookie took great pride and joy in bringing family and friends together. She loved hosting summer cookouts, parties, and holiday gatherings, creating spaces where laughter, warmth, and togetherness thrived. Her cooking was deeply loved, and her playful reputation as the queen of regifting presents - complete with carefully saved gift bags for reuse - remains a cherished family tradition. She also enjoyed traveling, delighted in dining at Long Horn Steakhouse and Famous Amos.
Above all, Cookie was profoundly family oriented. Believing wholeheartedly in celebrating birthdays, holidays, and milestones together. She worked tirelessly to maintain closeness and unity among her loved ones.
Cookie was also a woman of deep and abiding faith. She was a long-time faithful member of Shiloh Metropolitan Baptist Church, where she found spiritual nourishment, fellowship, and strength. She will be remembered for her love, generosity, humor, and the indelible mark she left on her family. Though she is now resting with her Heavenly Father, her legacy of togetherness, family, and love will live on forever in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
Cookie leaves to cherish her memory her husband Albert Kellum, three sisters Marie Hardy (Donald), Valerie (Kim) Bullock (Charles) (Tony), and Alice Downing; her brothers Timothy Felton, Junior Felton, Dennis Felton, and Ace Felton. Stepsons Elbert Johnson, Rodney Jackson, Eno Cruz, and Bryan Williams. Brothers-in-Law Lloyd Hinton, Jr., Sam Bowden, Charles Kellum (Brenda), John Kellum, Jr. (Dorothy), and Lonnie Kellum. Sister-in-Laws Rosemary (Carl) and Connie Kellum. Cookie had a host of nieces and nephews, cousins and friends who will always hold her memory close.
