Derrick was an avid sports fan, but football was his favorite pastime. He would sit for hours on end moving from one game to the next. His favorite college team was the University of Florida – Go Gators. There was always rivalry in the house as his step-daughter graduated from Florida State University, so they were a house divided and loved to go back and forth about who’s team was the best.
Derrick worked at Jacksonville Electrical Authority for over 20 plus years.
He was an Elder at the All People International Church. He loved to exalt the church in the name of the Lord. He always had a funny story to tell and of course he always ended the story with a laugh about his wife. People enjoyed and looked forward to hearing what he had to say. His favorite song was “I Won’t Complain”.
