Derrick Deon Stephens, Jr. was born May 9, 1998 to Meshandra Dennis and Derrick Deon Stephens, Sr.

Derrick was a great person with a one of a kind spirit. He always smiled and had such a unique laugh that it was contagious, this is what we will remember forever. He was a natural protector and leader, always following the beat of his own drum. Derrick was extremely affectionate and never failed to check on everyone’s welfare and to reiterate how much he loved and appreciated us.

“The true Wealth of the Soul is the only true Wealth” was a quote that Derrick loved and lived by. He understood life passed the worldly things and was indeed a wealthy soul.

Derrick was baptized a few months ago, and was heavily connected and anointed. His prayers were loud and strong, he would pray for an hour straight and the most admirable part about it is the majority of his prayers were not for self it was for the people around him. Derrick was selfless and special, one of those spirits that are rare. Everyone around him has been impacted positively by Derrick, EVERY single person. Derrick you were the standard. He walked in the likeness of Jesus and wherever he is transitioning to right now, I’m grateful to know that it’ll be a much better place than where we are in right now.

Derrick’s purpose was fulfilled here, he showed us how to Love, he showed us how to forgive, how to be humble, how to pray, and how to connect. Most of all he showed us that in this realm we are on borrowed time and we need to connect with our loved ones on a daily basis.

Derrick is survived by his parents, Meshandra Dennis and Derrick Deon Stephens, Sr.;  5 sisters, Marvelous, His Twin, Derricka, Nyla, Naki and Wynter; 6 brothers, Darius, Nigel, DeShay, Kevon Jr., Nyle and Amir; Loving Grandparents, Cassandra, Wesley, Clarence (Chuck)  and Betty; Great GrandParents, Betty Anne, Willie James and Grace; Aunts; Tyeisa, Latia, Frankie, Kyya, Katrina and Shara; Uncles; Johnnie and Calvin (Ro); Nephew Ahmari; a host of cousins and close friends
