Earnest Blakney, Jr. Obituary

Earnest F. Blakney Jr 57, of Jacksonville, Florida entered his eternal rest on Monday, February 10, 2025. He was born in Erie, Pa on September 18, 1967, to Ernest and Annie (Morrow) Blakney.

Earnest was a devoted husband, beloved father, grandfather, and loyal friend. He met his loving wife Tamica Nichele Carr in 1993 and together they built a life of love and laughter. Earnest’s legacy lives on through his two daughters, Keishonia Cotton of North Carolina and Kylah of Florida, three sons, Brent Thompson (Ja’Keisha) of Maryland, RaShaad and MaLeec of Florida, and two precious grandchildren, Brent Jr. and Brayden Thompson.

In addition to his father, he is survived by his brothers Edward (Patricia) Blakney of Florida, Darryl Blakney and Earnest Nicholson of Pennsylvania; his sisters Brenda and Cheryl Blakney, Tatrice Davis (Johnny), and Beverly Thorne of Pennsylvania, Jean Morrow of Nebraska; his aunt Ivery Jackson of South Carolina; his uncles Frank Morrow of Pennsylvania, Johnny Morrow of South Carolina, Howard Morrow and Doug Morrow of Florida, Glen Morrow of Illinois and 29 nieces and nephews along with a plethora of good friends.

Earnest excelled in track, football and wrestling at Academy High School and following his graduation in 1986 he joined the US Marine Corps. He courageously served in the Gulf War, Fallujah and Tikrit as was stationed at several other duty stations domestically and abroad. Shortly after retiring from the Marines his dedication to law and order transitioned him to a role as a Department of Defense Police Officer and with G4S as a Road Patrol Captain.

Earnest's love for life extended beyond his professional endeavors. His devotion to the Dallas Cowboys both in triumph and defeat was infectious as was his aficionado of cars, especially corvettes and detective police shows.

His walk with Christ helped him to be a better person. He attended Trinity Baptist Church and Bethel Baptist Church with family members and friends to experience the meaningful fellowship.

Earnest will be dearly missed by family and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother; his brothers Henry Martin and Charles Blakney; his sisters Eunice Vanessa Johnson, Ernestine Everett, Deborah Marshall and Theresa Blakney; his nephew Raghuib Sparks; his aunts Jane Riley, Mary Young, Eva Jean Jackson, Willie Pearl Morrow, and Sarah Morrow; his uncles James Morrow and Wilbert Morrow and his cousins Dale Jackson, Frank Parraway, Monica Watson and Ricky Gore.
