Ethelda Mae Prophet-Vason

Ethelda “Thel” Mae Prophet-Vason, 70, formerly of New York City, NY, gained her wings on Tuesday, August 25, 2020. Ethelda was born on December 10, 1949 to the late Anselme and Alice Prophet.

Ethelda attended Saint Joseph Catholic School in NYC. She graduated from George Washington High C/O 1969 in NYC. Received her Bachelor from Jones College in 2010 and her Master’s from Grand Canyon University 2012. She retired from Everhome Mortgage Company in 2012. She started her own printing company, The Sign of the Dove in 2010. She enjoyed Volunteering at St. Vincent Hospital at the Lobby Information Desk in Jax, FL.  She became an Author in the year of 2015, “But God and By His Grace following her second book in 2018, “Before Salvation, The Secrets She Kept”. She had just completed her third book, which has yet to be published.  Our mom was PROUD OF and LOVED her Sorority, Pen & Scroll, The Cadet Corp & Minisink in NYC. She was a HUGE fan of The Washington Redskins Football team. “HAIL TO THE REDSKINS!” And, a DIE HEART Gators fan!

One thing about our mom, she LOVED THE LORD! She was a God-Fearing woman. She loved hard! Supported anyone and everyone. But most of all, she LOVED her family! She was that Mom, Nana and Gigi that loved and supported us in whatever we had going on. She loved her church families in Jacksonville, FL and Norfolk, VA.

Ethelda was predeceased by her parents: Anselme Prophet (Haiti) and Alice Prophet (Gastonia, NC). Brother, Joseph Barnes; Sister in law, Latecia Prophet; Niece, Nicole Prophet and Nephew, Robert Prophet.

Ethelda leaves to cherish her memories: her loving and supportive brother, Leon Prophet. Her 6 daughters: Quanda Thomas (Juan Thomas Sr.), Leah Davis, Alicia Prophet, Ameka Vason, & Bonita Vason. Her 5 sons: Tyrone Dixon, Jamie Mills, Garrion Baker, Stephano Mosley Sr., James Vason III, and Stephen Vason. Her 14 Grandchildren: Marquise Brathwaite (Lisbeth Delgado), Alexis Brathwaite, Melliah Stanyard, Danneah Stanyard, Sontonius Troy Jr, Brashawn Davis Jr, Takia Davis, Jeremiah Thomas, Juan Thomas Jr, Warren Thomas, Jaleena Vason, Jamie Vason, Jaleesa Vason & JaBrea. Her 7 Great- Grandchildren: Brielle Brathwaite, Amiaya Smith, Eli Brathwaite (predeceased), Kingston Young, Ar’mon Thomas, Melliani Stanyard, Milan Vason, and Jenesis Grier. Her Godmother, Tommie Linton. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many dear friends.
