Harold Junior Wheeler was born August 27, 1967, in Hendersonville, North Carolina to his beloved mother Annie Mae Ferguson Wheeler and father, Lonton (Leanord) Wheeler. He departed this earthly life on September 23, 2025. He was preceded in death by his beloved mother (Annie) and brother, Dwight Erwin Wheeler(nunu).
In 1972, Harold began first grade in Mayesville, South Carolina. While living there, he embraced the country life—catching crawfish in ditches and playing outdoors with his cousins. He ate the foods country folk liked to eat such as rabbit, squirl, pork and possum. He was given the nickname “Rabbit” because he was the fastest runner. Today, his family still calls him by that nickname.
After moving to Kingstree, South Carolina, with his family in 1977, Harold started elementary school (grades 4-6) at Kingstree Elementary; then he attended Kingstree Junior High (grades 7–8) while there, he played sports, particularly basketball. During the summers he worked jobs to help his mother with household expenses. He became a Dallas Cowboys fan during this time, saying that he was star struck “It was the star on the helmet.” He was a diehard fan.
At 14 years old, he attended Kingstree Senior High School, where he continued to play sports and work during the summer months. He accelerated through high school; his favorite subjects were English and Government. During his 11th grade school year, he signed up to enlist in the military through the Kingstree Military Recruit Center. He graduated from high school June 1985 at age 17. He joined the United States Navy, August 1985 at age 18 years old.
Harold's adult life began with 20 years of service in the U.S. Navy, starting at age 18. He shared that one of the greatest highlights of these years was fatherhood, the birth of his only biological son brought so much joy to his life and sharing the memories of raising him was one of his favorite topics to talk about. Global traveling in the US Navy allowed him to meet and form lasting friendships. He retired honorably on January 31, 2006, at age 38.
His personal life soon flourished. In a period of readjustment to civilian life, he prayed for a wife, and in May 2008, he met Ronda. They were married on May 15, 2010.
The couple later moved the family to Augusta, Georgia, where they were spiritually guided by the leadership at Victory Word of Faith Christian Center. During this time, they made great friends, and their daughters graduated high school and left for college. Harold and Ronda returned to Jacksonville in June 2015, where he completed his education, earning a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Ashford University.
Harold’s strong faith was a constant throughout his life; he often shared childhood church memories and God’s word with friends and family. They are currently members of EL Bethel Greater Praise Deliverance Temple. He rededicated his life to Christ in 2024.
Harold was a proud grandfather of seven grandchildren: Dorian, Sariyah, Samara and Serenity Wheeler, Messiah and Izrael Bland and Ayce Parker.
Harold leaves to cherish his memories, his beloved wife of 17 years, Ronda Denese Wheeler, 2 sons: Harold Javor Wheeler, Anthony Parker (Angelica), and 2 daughters, Lajuria Bland (John), Susan Robinson (Cameron), 3 Sisters, Claudia Mckenzie (Felix) Suanetta Tisdale (John), Sharon Johnson (Aaron) 2 brothers: Jerome Ferguson (Bobbie) and Derrick Wheeler (Shannon), and a host of family and friends
