Jacqueline Deloris Grant was born on June 29, 1952 to the late Mr. Archie Lee and Mrs. Marie Grant. Jackie as she was known to all was a 1970 graduate of Eugene Butler High School. She furthered her education by attending beauty school.
Jackie was a dedicated member of Greater Mount Vernon Missionary Baptist Church and has served under the leadership of Rev. George T. McCall, Rev. Leo M. Jones and most recently under Rev. Kelly E. Brown, until her health no longer allowed her to participate. The many capacities that she served in include Trustee Ministry (Secretary), Sunday School Teacher, Usher Board #4 (President), Mass Choir (President), Hospitality Ministry (President), Travel Committee (President). For many years she was a member of District #13-Deacon General Robinson, Leader and most recently was a member of District #3-Deacon Myron A. Coney, Leader.
She was employed by Sears and later American Heritage Life. After her career ended she became the caregiver for her mother Marie Grant until her passing. She then took on the role of Nanny to her great nephew-Jared and her great niece-Jordan, or as she referred to them (my babies).
After the passing of her parents, Sis. Bertha Richardson became the mother figure in her life. Her hobbies were singing, cooking and traveling.
Sister Grant transitioned from Earth to Heaven on Wednesday, April 20th and awaiting her arrival are her parents and brothers, Clarence and Archie, Jr.
She is survived by her siblings, Fannie (Samuel) Green, Willie Mae Pittman and Tommie Grant; Nieces, Marla (Sean) Bradford, Stefanie (Scott) Kuhn and Terri A. Smith; Nephews, Ronald (Belle) Brinkley, Keith (Erika) Brinkley and Jermaine Grant; Great Nephews, Jared C. Bradford, Miles, Zion and Keiston Brinkley; Great Niece, Jordan M. Bradford; Goddaughters, Erika T. White and Tiara McDuffie. She also leaves behind several aunts, uncles, cousins and many sorrowing friends.
