James Clyde Johnson, Jr., was born in Richland, Georgia on February 20, 1950, to his parents James Clyde Johnson, Sr. and Mattie Johnson.
James passed away on January 29, 2026, at Lakehouse Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, Minneapolis, Minnesota. He was 75 years old and just 22 days from his 76th birthday. He was preceded in death by both parents, his son Kendrick Leonard Johnson, his brothers J. B. Bins and Walter Willis, and his sisters Charlie Mae Carpenter, Ann Brailsford, and Edith Williams.
James was educated in the public schools of Duval County and in his early 20’s he relocated to Minneapolis, Minnesota and lived there over the past 50 years. James was a light and a joy to all who knew and loved him, to know him was truly to love him, he is one of a kind.
James is survived by his son, Wendell Johnson (Tameika); grandchildren, Kendrick Leonard Johnson, Jr., Jasir Johnson, Trinity Johnson and Ja’ree Hopkins; great grandchildren, Kennedi Leo’nae Johnson and Ondria Johnson; last surviving sibling, sister, Mae Thelma Willis; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. James is also survived by his devoted friends and caregivers, Fartun Mohamed Figow and her husband, Sakaria Hassan Abdi of Minneapolis, Minnesota.
