John Roberson, Sr. Obituary

John E. Roberson, Sr., was born on June 5, 1966, in Jacksonville, Florida, to the late Mr. Willis Roberson, Sr., and Mrs. Jessie M. Roberson.  He was an honor graduate of William M. Raines High School Class of 1984.  During high school, he played the Cello as a member of the William M. Raines Orchestra.  After graduation, he furthered his education briefly attending the University of North Florida aspiring a degree in Psychology.  Most recently he was attending Broward Community College working toward completing his degree in Psychology.

John was baptized and a member of Mt. Bethel Missionary Baptist church in the mid 70’s.  His church activities consisted of the Ambassador Boys, Basketball, Jr Church, Usher Board, and both Jr Choir and S. A. Thomas Choir.  John left Jacksonville and ventured to Ft. Lauderdale in 1986; to work with his Uncle’s at their family business – Roberson Construction Company.  He has since been employed with the Broward County Department of Public Works and Maintenance as an Equipment Operator – approaching 20 years of service in April 2025.  He was also a regular volunteer with the Broward County Office of Elections - (Precinct unknown).   

He was a dedicated and active member of McBride Lodge #390 P.H.A. in Ft. Lauderdale, FL, a 32nd degree Mason of St Joseph Consistory #274, Valley of Hollywood, FL P.H.A and Noble of SABA Temple #275 A.E.A.O.M.S. Prince Hall Shrines in the Oasis of Pompano Beach-Desert of Florida.

John enjoyed life to the fullest and at its’ best.  He loved fellowshipping with his family and his friends.  He was a die-hard Raines Viking, Florida Gator, and Jacksonville Jaguar fan.

John is preceded in death by his father, Mr. Willis Roberson, Sr.  His memory will be cherished by his loving and devoted Mother, Jessie M. Roberson; Son, John E. Roberson, Jr.; Siblings: Dorothy (Dot) Butler, Willis Roberson, Jr., and Deborah Williams; Godparents: Deacon Wilbur and Mother Mary Bellamy, Sr.;  Uncle(s): Jimmie Lee Richardson, Julius Richardson, Sr. (Sharon), Robert Richardson, Sr. (Joyce); Aunt(s): Betty Roberson, Lily Williams, Coretta Richardson, Beverly Roberson; Dear and Very Special Friend: Adrea Lovett; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, god-brothers, god-sisters, and friends.  Special Acknowledgement to Mr. Nicholas Wells.
