Johnny Lee Smith, Jr. was born July 23, 1954 to the parents of Mr. Johnny Lee and Inez Smith. Johnny attended local schools in Jacksonville and graduated from Robert E. Lee High School. Johnny joined the United States Navy and worked on Air Craft Carriers for years and was awarded the National Defense Service Metal (with one bronze star) departing with a honorable discharge.
Johnny was presented a Service Award for an honorable dedicated service as a postal mail carrier for 21 years and retired after a severe heart illness. Johnny joined St. Stephen A.M.E. Church under the Rev. Michael L. Mitchell. He was preceded in death by his Mother, Inez Smith; sister, Glora Roan; brother, Charles Smith.
Johnny leaves to cherish his memories his loving wife of 26 years, Sandra A. Smith;– children, Klanese Smith (Bruce), Nickolas Oakley, Kyra Oakley, Audrey Brunson (Jerome) and Jonathan Smith; sister, Patricia Watson (James); grandchildren, Anthony, Kinsley, Kross, Nicolas, Jerome and Major; mother-in-law, Gwendolyn Moore; brother- in-laws, Gregory Moore, Zelda Carl Moore (Paulette); nieces, nephews, cousins, and many sorrowing friends.
