Joshua Taylor was born on January 4, 1936 to the late Cephus and Maggie Taylor in High Springs, Florida.
On October 27, 1958 he was united in holy matrimony to Ethel Lee Preston which was the love of his life.
Joshua received his education in Alachua Public Schools. For many years he worked as a truck driver for Sawyer Gas Company, retiring September 20, 2002.
Joshua never faced a job he couldn’t conquer. A master carpenter and jack of all trades, he was a handy man who enjoyed offering his skills to anyone in need.
Joshua was a devoted husband and father who would always put his family first. It seems as if every conversation would end with him expressing his unconditional love for his wife, children, grandchildren, siblings, or any member of his family. This is what he valued most and truly considered as his riches on Earth.
On May 3, 2017, Joshua received his wings and went home to be with our Lord and Savior. Joshua leaves behind his lovely wife of 58 years of marriage, Ethel Taylor; his devoted sons, Eddie Taylor (Katrina) and Vincent Taylor (Dina); his beautiful daughters, Janice Stewartson (Lenworth), Debbie Taylor, and Nicole Russell (James); his brothers, Thomas Taylor and Cephus Taylor, Jr.; his sisters, Marie Robinson (Leroy), Lottie Merriex (Gilbert), and Evelyn Cason; his loving grandchildren, Khari Taylor, Joshalen Stewartson, Rahim Taylor, Iman Taylor, Marcus Stewartson, Ja’Mone Taylor, and Ja’Niya Taylor;and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
