Larry Bernard Byrd was the first-born child of Delmar and Mary Byrd on January 16, 1957, in Spokane, Washington.
He attended and graduated from Samuel W. Wolfson High School in Jacksonville, Florida class of 1976.
He enlisted in the US Navy in 1977 serving 20 years where he found his passion in photography that he continued throughout his life. While serving he met and married Peggy Byrd and together they raised two children, Nakia and Larry. After retiring from the Navy, he served the Jacksonville community for 25 years with the Jacksonville Transit Authority as a dedicated bus operator.
As an avid sports fan, he loved the Dallas Cowboys and was proud to speak up and support them throughout all wins and losses.
He was also a huge fan of Michael Jordan, watching every game with the Bulls and Michael Jackson, playing every album since his first song. You'll always hear his story about when the Victory Tour came to Jacksonville. The name Michael eventually made it to become his son's middle name.
Larry was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Francis Byrd; siblings, Alvin Byrd, Lee Byrd and Alphonso Byrd.
He is survived by his father, Delmar Lee Byrd (Gail); siblings Chrissey Byrd (Rebecca), Lisa Tulloch (Barbera); children, Nakia Brents (Aaron), Larry Byrd (Regina); grandchildren, Kellen Brents, Lathan Brents, Maliah Byrd, Aiden Byrd, Aarian Brents, and Ashton Byrd; his endearing aunt, Lillian Byrd; special cousins, Wilma Byrd, Anthony Byrd, Tammy Simmons, and Katrina Simmons-Griffin; a host of family and friends.
