Laverne Lane Holmes

Ms. Laverne Lane Holmes was born June 26,1947, in Jacksonville, Florida to Ruth Evelyn Lane and Jack Lane. She passed away October 25, 2025, at the age of 78.

She was the oldest to three siblings, Sylvia Rogers,(deceased), Elosie Lane and Alvin Harvey, (deceased). 

 Laverne had two children, Kenyatta Lane(deceased) and Lamont Jones.

She met and married Preston Holmes in the early 1980s. Laverne retired and raised her deceased daughter's children, Darius Jones and Dominique Lane.

Laverne loved and cherished all of her grandchildren, Darius Jones, Dominique Lane, Elisha, Ashajhuna Jones, Kmari Jones and Dabria Jones.

God extended her life to see her great grandchildren, Journee Asbey, Joi Asbey, Kendall Mays.

Laverne was known for her overwhelming strength and Faith in Jesus. She shared her generosity and love with everyone she encountered. Her memory lives on with her sister son, host of nieces and nephews, host of cousins, godchildren, grandchildren, great grandchildren and her childhood best-friend (Thelma Harrington).
