Leola Dorothy Brooks

Leola Dorothy Brooks was born on May 18, 1929 to Robert and Almetir Watkins in Jacksonvile, FL.  She attended Duval County Public Schools and is a graduate of Old Stanton Sr. High School. 

Mrs. Brooks gave her life to Christ at an early age and was a life long member  of Mt. Aarat Baptist Church.  Leola retired in 1991 from her position of Dietary Supervisor after many years of employment at University Hospital (now UF Shands).

In 1949, Mrs. Brooks gave birth to her eldest son Elbert L. Watkins . She married and became one with Arthur F. Brooks on November 16, 1950 to their union two children were born Charlene and Bruce A. Brooks.

Mrs. Brooks was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Ocia M. Watkins and two sons, Elbert L. Watkins and Bruce A. Brooks.

She leaves to cherish her memories, her loving daughter Charlene Boyd (James);  two Daughter-in- laws, Brenda Watkins (Elbert), Cecelia (Bruce); seven grandchildren, Tiwana Boyd, Erika Jones (Maurice), Katrina Risher (Daryl), Shona Watkins Hester, Anika Townsel (Will), Ashley Boyd and Marlon Watkins; seventeen Great Grandchildren; one great great grandchild; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, a dear sister-in-law,  Marion Brown; two close friends, Ms. Minnie Campbell and Ms. Lillie Williams.
