The Life and Legacy of Lola Prime Williams
Lola Prime Williams went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, November 19, 2020. She was born to the late Nathaniel and Cornelia Prime on June 14, 1936 in Jacksonville, Florida. She was educated in the Duval local schools and graduated from New Stanton High School in the Class of 1954. She also pursued higher education by attending Brewster School of Nursing yet found her true love in the field of Education.
Early in life, she accepted Christ and remained a devoted Christian living her life to serve God, her church, family, and the community. She was an active member of Friendship Missionary Baptist Church, Rev. Dr Aloysious D. Denard, Pastor in Jacksonville, FL. Her many years of service included singing with the Remus Smith Choir and the Mass Choir. She served on the Education and Welcoming Committee, the Missionary Minister for the Youth Ministry, President of District # 2 under District Leadership of Deacon Winston Ware and Deacon Daryl Poole. She was also a member of the Love and Good Will Society for many years. Lola continued her passion for serving by dedicating over thirty-eight (38) years to the Head Start program where she touched the lives of so many young people through love and education. She was well-known throughout the community for her loving demeanor, beautiful voice and smile, her passion for serving and helping anyone, and above all the love she had for God and her family.
This faithful servant was preceded in death by her parents, Nathaniel and Cornelia Prime; her loving husband, James “Jimmie” L. Williams Jr.; her siblings, Nathaniel Jr. “Sonny”, Roland, Theodore “TC”, Jerry and Harry Prime, and Patricia Bang-Brooks; her son, James “Bobby” Williams III; daughter-in-law, Susan Williams; and daughter, Kathy Harris.
Left to cherish her memories are her four children: Derek Williams and Barry Williams of Jacksonville, FL, Angela Williams-Ward of Tallahassee, FL, and Michael (Diane) Williams of Orlando, FL; 15 grand-children: NaKendra, James IV “BJ”, Jason, Jameka, Jamario Williams, Derek (Toni) Gray, Eric Walters, Willie Sessions, Jasmine and Barry Williams Jr., Darryl and Ariel Ward , Dawn and Shawn Harris, and Joseph Osborne; 17 great-grandchildren: Kia, Nia, Jamie, Jasmine, Ja’Kecca, London, Juliana, Unique, Eric Jr., Emerald, Donovan, Shamia, Damien, Makayla, Laney, Alasia, and Jazmyn Harris; 3 god-children: Melody Jackson, Jason Hopkins, and Vonice Gibbs (Joe); 3 siblings: James Prime and David “Ronnie” Prime of Jacksonville, FL and Catherine (Arthur) Luse of Milwaukee WI.; 4 sisters-in-law: Lois Prime, Lula (Herbert) Cross, Marilyn “Ruby” Singleton, Cynthia Peoples; a dearest cousin: Edna Adams; close friends: Minnie Griffin, Synthia McFatten, and Edna Johnson; devoted caretaker: Frances Lynch, healthcare agency: Vitas Healthcare Hospice Care; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, friends, neighbors, her church family and other special people in her life.
