Mertia D. Brown was born April 5, 1960, in Jacksonville, Florida to the union of West and Isabelle Tarver.
Mrs. Brown received her education in the Duval County Public School System, where she furthered her education and received a certificate in Child Development Associate. She was joined in holy matrimony to Earl Brown for 20 years, who proceeded in her death. She attended Saint Stephens African Methodist Episcopal Church and served on Usher Board #2.
Mrs. Brown was employed with Lutheran Social Services of Northeast Florida until the day of her passing.
Mrs. Brown was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Brown; Father, West Tarver; Sister, Janice Tarver; Brothers, James and Melvin Tarver.
Our Heavenly Father gave his daughter, Merita, her wings on Wednesday,July 29, 2020.
Mrs. Brown leaves to cherish her memories, her loving children, Latasha Smith and Terrance Tarver, Sr.; grandchildren, Antwain Baker, Reajene Blackshear (Terron Sr.), Terrance Tarver, Jr., Terriyana Tarver and Uzziah Tarver; great-grandchildren, A'Jah Baker, Terron Blackshear, Jr. and Tyler Blackshear; mother, Isabelle Tarver; sisters, Bertha Butler, Gwendolyn Tarver and Wyzler Hay (Willie); brothers, Andrew Tarver (Angela) and James Warden; a host of nieces, nephews and many sorrowing friends that will miss her very much.
