Mildred Fuzell Obituary

Mildred Lee Fuzell, the daughter of Mary (Tant) Wilkins was born on June 22, 1949, in Fayetteville, NC. She completed her earthly journey peacefully on April 15, 2025, in Jacksonville, FL with her husband by her side. She attended Annie Chestnut High School in Fayetteville, NC; where she graduated in 1968. Mildred began working at Cape Valley Hospital in dietary. This is where she found her love for working around food.

Mildred later married and moved to Jacksonville, FL where she had two beautiful children. She began working various jobs; Stanley Snack and St. Luke’s Hospital, where she retired. She also retired from UNF after working for a number of years.

Mildred was baptized at Sweetwater Church of Christ by Brother Richard Coffey, Sr. She later worked with the Start Up Program of the Southside Church of Christ Mission. She was ordained as a deaconess and worked on many committees. Mildred began worshipping with the Northbound Church of Christ in 2017, where she remained a faithful member until her passing.

She found her passion and love in the kitchen and also served on hospitality, decorating, and senior committees. Mildred loved to cook, decorate, collect angels, and cater events.

Mildred was preceded in death by her brother, Alonzo Wilkins and sister, Mattie Pickens.

Mildred is survived by her husband, John Fuzell of Jacksonville, FL; daughter, Tonya Williams of Jacksonville, FL; son, Jermaine Williams (Candace) of Atlanta, GA; four grandchildren, Samia Thompson, Simone Thompson, Kyndal Williams and Zachary Williams, all of Atlanta, GA; one stepdaughter, Dawn Fuzell of Tampa, FL; three godchildren, April Kirkland (Kirk), Heather Rollinson and Kara Rollinson, all of Jacksonville, FL; a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, family, and close friends (some for 30, 40, and 50 years).

Mildred was a unique and beautiful person who will be missed by those who knew her. Mildred’s fighting spirit will remain with us forever. To God be the glory.
