Otis Lee Comer, Sr., was born on February 1,1944, to Coleman Comer and Ethel Mae Comer in Birmingham, Alabama. He was raised alongside his eleven brothers and three sisters.
Mr. Comer obtained his high school diploma in 1962 and many prestigious titles thereafter including that of his bachelor's degree and ministerial leadership. He encouraged those he loved and all that he came into contact with on a daily basis. Mr. Comer’s wisdom was far beyond his years, and he never hesitated to help those in need. His selfless acts included that of volunteering in his neighborhood to assist with cleaning illegal dumping, purchasing perishables for the youth, dedicating his time to carry out bible study on Tuesdays and Saturdays and selling newspapers to the local longshoremen and surrounding community. These are just a few of the most recent selfless acts Mr. Comer has shown but this fine quality was administered throughout his 80 years of life here on earth.
He was a loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle and most importantly a man of the cloth. Mr. Comer maintained high spirits no matter the adversity that life brought his way. He fought hard and long but he never gave up the fight. Let this be an encouragement to us all to continue the manner as he upheld in keeping the faith and fighting the good fight. These colors come to mind when thinking of the standards and morals carried out by Mr. Comer. Red for the love he shared. Black for his ability to remain powerful in mind and might. White for his ability to be altruistic, willing to help anyone in need. Gold for always having a wealth of knowledge and wisdom.
