Phillip Jon Steelman was born on February 1, 1998 at the Jacksonville Naval Hospital of Jacksonville, Florida. He passed away on April 26, 2020. Phillip attended Neptune Beach Elementary School, McCool Elementary School(Guam), Mayport Middle School and Fletcher High School.
Phillip was a respectful and loving son, husband, father, brother, grandson, nephew and friend. He was a devoted father who loved his three children and the time spent with them. Phillip loved to cook, play video games and fish, especially in the mountains of Colorado. He was a big fan of the Jacksonville Jaguars in the Florida Gators.
He was preceded in death by his great uncles, Christopher Gallegos and Jerry Steelman; grandfather, Ernest Baskin; Great grandfathers, Tomas Gallegos and Stanley Franck; great grandmothers, Helen Steelman and Sarah A. Thomas.
Phillip is survived by his mother, Shandi Steelman (Sam),his wife and mother of his three children, Samantha; three children, Phillip, Jr. (5), Aubrey (2) and Gabriella (1); Brothers Michael, Jr., Makhi and Madden Baskin and Samuel Williams, IV; Sister, Kaleya Baskin; father, Michael Baskin; maternal grandparents, Sharon and Kent Franck, James and Nadine Steelman; Great Grandmother, Christine Gallegos; paternal grandmother, Sarah Thomas; Uncles, Thomas “ Shelby” Steelman (Lauren ), James “Jimmy” Steelman (Allison); Aunt, Audrey Franck-Demuth (Jason); father-in-law, Marvin Gay (Beth); Mother-in-law, Helen Gay; Brother-in-law, Marvin Gay Jr. (Shaunda); Sister-in-law, Kathy Perez-Gonzalez (Ramon); a host of great aunts, uncles, cousins and close friends including, Clarence Hall and Damon Edwards.
His absence will be felt by his family and all the lives he touched. Phillip's legacy will live on.
