SGT Christian Hames Obituary

SGT Christian Hames, 27, of Jacksonville, FL passed away unexpectedly on Friday, August 28, 2020 while on active duty at Schofield Barracks Army Base in Oahi, Hawaii.  Christian was born in St. Petersburg, Florida on March 17, 1993. He attend pre-school through first grade at Southside Christian Academy.  Upon entering the second grade he moved to Jacksonville, FL with his parents and twin brother. He attended St. Matthew’s Catholic School and graduated from Mandarin High School in 2011.

SGT Hames enlisted in the United States Army as a 92G, Culinary Specialist, on the May 13, 2014.  He attended basic training at Ft. Jackson, SC and Advanced Individual Training (AIT) at Ft. Lee, VA.  His first duty station was Ft. Stewart, GA followed by being stationed at Schofield Barracks, HI.  He was projected to be stationed at Ft. Hood, TX as his next duty station.  He was promoted to the rank of Sergeant (SGT) in the pay grade of E-5 on November 1, 2018.  His military education included the Basic Leader Course (BLC) in 2018, and the Combat Lifesaver's Course in 2017. At the time of his death was promotable and preparing for board examination to become a Staff Sergeant (SSG).

2x Army Good Conduct Medals (AGCM)

The National Defense Service Medal (NDSM)

The Global War On Terrorism Service Medal (GWTSM)

The Non-Commissioned Officer (NCO) Professional Development Ribbon (NCOPDR)

The Army Service Ribbon (ASR)

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Lanier and Eddie Kate Williams (St. Petersburg, FL)

 

Christian now leaves to mourn, a loving wife, Danielle Hames; two children, Kairo and Kaiyden (Jacksonville, FL); devoted parents, Rodney Hames and Mary Hames (Jacksonville, FL); caring twin brother, Cornelius Hames (Jacksonville, FL); adoring paternal grandparents, Fred and Carrie Hames (St. Petersburg, FL); and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives, extended family and friends.
