Sheryle Theresa Grant Walker affectionately called “String Bean” & “Skinny Time” was born to Joseph and Elnora Grant on July 1, 1950 in Jacksonville, Florida. She departed this life on July 17, 2019 at St. Vincent Hospital Riverside.
During the summers of her younger years she spent time in South Carolina with various relatives. She also often reminisced and talked about the numerous summers she spent with her Aunt Lou in Beaufort, South Carolina.
Her early education includes attending Isaiah Blocker School, Darnell Cookman Middle School and New Stanton High School class of 1968. She later furthered her education by attending Edward Waters College where she majored in Special Education. She later joined in union with James Walker.
Sheryle accepted Christ at an early age and she grew up attending Greater New Hope A.M.E. Church. She dedicated over 25 years of service to American Heritage Life Insurance Company. After retirement, she decided to join AmeriCorps for two years and most recently worked with the Foster Grandparent program with the Duval County Public Schools in Jacksonville, Florida.
She enjoyed cooking, shopping and working diligently in her church, St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church where she served on the Usher Board and the Deaconess Board. Sheryle spent many weekends and holidays with her family and lifelong friend of 51 years Belinda Grissett. Belinda and Sheryle often traveled together on shopping trips to the outlet malls and eating out with her daughter Keya.
She was preceded in death by her father and mother. She leaves to mourn, her husband James and one daughter, Keya. A sister, Vivienner & one brother, Anthony (Diane) a host of beloved aunts, uncles, nieces, Jada (Darryl), Kenyata, Brandie (Marvin), nephews, Antonio, Anthony, Jr & C’Shaun Addison. A host of great nieces and great nephews, godparents, Mary Alice and Daniel Montfort friends and her dear lifelong friend, Belinda Grissett, her daughter Natalie and family.
