Shonda Marie Howell departed this life on Sunday, October 26, 2025, at HCA Florida Orange Park Hospital in Jacksonville, Florida. She was born on September 9, 1976, in Marietta, Georgia, to Edmond Maurice Howell and Sharla Yvette Williams, and was raised in Springfield, Illinois.
From a young age, Shonda’s faith was an important part of her life. She was baptized and attended Calvary Church. After graduating from Springfield High School, Shonda proudly enlisted in the United States Navy, serving overseas in Italy and along the East Coast. During her years of service, she worked in various capacities with the United States Government, demonstrating her dedication and commitment to her country.
Shonda had a deep love of travel, especially cruising and exploring islands around the world. Above all, she cherished her family and took great joy in spending time with and spoiling her beloved four grandchildren.
A lifelong learner, Shonda was immensely proud of her academic achievements. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice and Corrections and went on to complete a Master of Business Administration from American InterContinental University.
Shonda was preceded in death by her father, Edmond Maurice Howell. She leaves to cherish her memory her loving mother, Sharla Williams; brother, John (Candace) Howell; daughters, Arianna Howell, Tyanna Johnson, and Niyah Johnson; her grandchildren, Tristian Howell, Kylen Howell, Messiah and Makiyah Duplessis; nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and a host of dear friends who will miss her deeply.
