Mother Vera Eichelberger was born on October 10, 1942 in Sumter County, Georgia to the late Mr. Milton and Mrs. Bobbie Lou West. Growing up in Cordele, GA, she was the youngest of seven children and was preceded in death by her husband, two sisters and her only brother. She graduated from Holsey Cobb Institute on May 26, 1961.
Mother Vera Eichelberger was well respected in the communities where she lived. Her determination to make a better life for herself, as well as her children, propelled her to move from Cleveland Arms, a local housing project to Biscayne Estates, a single-family home sub-division. This was possible through her employment as a Licensed Practical Nurse at University Hospital (Shands Hospital) in Jacksonville, Florida. Although, she could breathe a sigh of relief when she purchased a home, on her own, she was not satisfied. In 1984, she was accepted into the Florida College at Jacksonville Registered Nursing Program. She graduated in the Spring of 1986 with an Associate Degree in Science, A.S. As a result, she resumed her employment as a licensed practical and registered nurse for thirty years, before retiring in 1997.
Mother Vera Eichelberger was a dedicated and faithful member of the Cathedral of Deliverance Church, in Jacksonville, Florida from November 4, 1990 until passing, almost thirty years. She served as a Sunday School teacher, eventually becoming the superintendent. As a member of the Mothers Board, she gave advice to other women and prepared the Holy Communion. Lastly, as a Ruling Elder, she, along with others, assisted the pastor with making business decisions for the church.
Mother Vera Eichelberger is survived by her children, Wanda Hicks(Charles), Dianeshia Wilson-Johnson(Larry), Tyrona Murray(Carlos) and West Clark; grandchildren, Kawane Wilson, Calvin Wilson, Keymetri Fishburn, Jacquel Wilson, Xavier Fishburn, Thandekila Murray and Jaffee Murray; great grandchildren; stepchildren, Bishop Charles B.
