Verdell Jones

Verdell Jones, affectionately known by family and friends as “Ronnie Yates,” departed this life leaving behind a legacy of love, talent, and cherished memories.


Born to the late Jimmie and Agnes Jones, Verdell was raised in Jacksonville, Florida, where he attended local schools in Duval County. In his younger years, he was known for his many talents and creative spirit. He possessed a natural gift for singing, dancing, and drawing, bringing joy and inspiration to those around him. His artistic abilities and vibrant personality left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.


Verdell was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Jimmie and Agnes Jones; his brother, David Jones; and his niece, Temeka Jones.


He leaves to cherish his precious memories his devoted siblings: Walter Jones, Abdullah Shah, Louis Jones, Alfred Jones, Larry Jones (Altamease), Rose Brown (Michael), and Lonnie Jones (Angela), along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and friends who will forever hold him in their hearts. Though he is no longer with us in body, his spirit, laughter, and the memories he created will remain with us always.
