Verdell Walker Williams was born September 12, 1942, in Newville, Alabama, to the late Irene and TJ Walker. Verdell had many siblings. After her husband, Benjamin Williams finished his military assignment in Duluth, Minnesota, the family moved to Jacksonville, Florida. Verdell gave birth to four children with Benjamin. She attended FSCJ and received her G.E.D. Verdell giving spirit led her to a nursing career path shortly after completing nursing school. She became an LPN Nurse, dedicating over 40 years of nursing. Verdell later retired in her 60’s.
Verdell was family oriented. She was blessed with a wonderful gift of giving and was always the first to come up with a solution to help family members, friends and others who were in need. She loved her children and they loved her.
Verdell was a wonderful caring mother and grandmother. She put her all into her family. Anyone who came into contact with her considered her an earth angel. We all knew she had a spot in heaven awaiting her. She will be terribly missed by all who knew her. She was a great strong mother and grandmother.
On October 29, 2024, Verdell finished her earthly journey. She was preceded in death by her husband, Benjamin S. Williams, Jr.; parents, Irene and T.J. Walker; son, Craig Lemarr Williams; brother, Willie James Thompson.
Verdell will forever be missed by her son, Timothy Williams; daughters, Danette Williams, Lisa Jones; granddaughters, Nicole Williams, Tiffany Williams, Tamya Hartsfield, Cherie Jones, Alysia Rivera, Brittney Jones, Jordan Jones, Timuquana Williams and Diyah; grandson, Brian Williams; a host of great grands, other relatives and friends.
