Vickie passed away on Wednesday, August 7, 2024. She was born September 11, 1953, from the late Erlyne Montana Newkirk Martin in Jacksonville, Florida. Vickie graduated from New Stanton High School. She was a retiree of Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Florida.
She is preceded in death by her Husband, John Melvin Platts, Sr.; Sister, Erlyne “Cheryl” Newkirk Goodman; Brother-in-Law, Larry Platts, Sr.; Grandson, Javaris Platts; a host of other loved ones.
Vickie leaves to cherish her memories her sons, John “J-Baby” Platts, and Jamal “Raw Dog” Platts; her lovely Daughter-in-Law, Kelli Platts; Grandsons, John Platts, Jamal Platts, Jr. and her one and only granddaughter, Jennifer Platts; Sister, Joann Newkirk Alston (Freddie); Sister-in-law, Esther Platts; Her favorites, Toby Parrish, Sherrell Moore, Tori Newkirk (Danyuelle), Destiny “Pooh” Robinson, Eddie Chapman, Wonndra Jones, Lover (Chic) Threats, Lawrence “Erwin” Bryant, Denise Brown, Cera Bryant and Lisa James; Best Friends, Ann Wright, Debbie McLane and Fred “Flint” Clark; Bonus Sons, Derick Scantling, Chris Mobley, Devin Harden, Mike Underwood and Tony Wilson; a host of close nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Vickie was the epitome of a devoted and dedicated wife, mother and aunt. She played the mother and grandmother role to many who were not even related to her. Therefore, unconditional love was given and received. Vickie was truly the MVP of her family. She was the true definition of a superb support system. She always showed up to every event, game, party or gathering that she was invited too. In her youth and young adult ages, she was a great basketball and softball player. Vickie was very supportive of 7 Figures Basketball, MOT Football and many other youth sports programs. Her presence was guaranteed to light up any place she stepped foot in. She was truly an Angel while here on earth. She is loved dearly and will be missed deeply.
