Warren Levertis Thomas, Sr.

Warren L Thomas Sr. was born October 15, 1946 in Jacksonville, Florida to the late Elnora Mae Thomas and Eugene Diggs. He received his formal education from Duval County Schools and graduated from Stanton Vocational High School in 1965. He enjoyed working on cars, fishing, cooking, spending time with family, and helping others.

Warren was employed with Winn Dixie Bakery for 22 years and later retired after 22 years from Cathedral Residences. Over the 44 years of his employment at both companies, he gained many friends whom he considered family.

Some fun facts about Warren is he had many treasures that were only useful to him. He was considered everyone’s personal MacGyver. He absolutely loved all shows that included Judge Mablean Ephraim. He loved to play spider solitaire. His nickname was “Fred” as in Fred Sanford because he was an avid collector of “junk”. He had an extremely pleasing personality and never met a stranger. But his absolute favorite pastime was to spend quality time with family.

Warren departed this earthly realm on July 5, 2019. He is preceded in death by his parents: Elnora Thomas and Eugene Diggs. Two of his sisters: MaryAnn Dukes and Dorothy Carroll and a granddaughter: Kenya Diane Haggins.

Those left to cherish his legacy includes his wife of 48 years, Diane Thomas. His two daughters: Jacqueline Palmer (Nathan) and Anya Simmons (Omar). Three sons: Shawn Thomas (Cheri), Warren Thomas Jr. and Juan Thomas (Quanda) all of Jacksonville, FL. Grandchildren: Tiaira, Joshua, Alanah, Juan Jr., Warren, Jeremiah, Morgan, Marilee, Anthony, Ethan, Kiara, Andrea, Shawn, Warren, Marquise, Alexis, Sontonius, La’Roniquia, Alexandra, Simone, Eliza, Daishaun, Elijah, and Izaiah  and 12 great grandchildren. Sisters: Hortense Smith, Geraldine Thomas, Pondeleia Adams (Terrance), Sandra Cardona (Paul), and Paulette Williams (Tony Sr). Brothers: Andra Diggs (Diane), Anthony Thomas, Bilal Hassan (Patricia), and Robert Thomas. Best friends: Paul Jackson, Lorenzo Smith, Larry Harrison, and his brother from another mother, Fred McAfee. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.
